The Life of Mrs. Fifty Shades | Chapter 18

The Life of Mrs. Fifty Shades

Chapter Eighteen

Christian

It was day thirteen.

I’d been hungry for so long my stomach was numb. Coherent thoughts were difficult to maintain and my memory was blurry. Time moved in a haze. I didn’t know what time of day it was since there were no windows. I’d been sleeping nonstop because I barely had the energy to stay awake.

I was losing this battle.

I tried to focus and remaining strong. The second an opportunity for escape revealed itself, I had to take it. I had to tackle the next man who opened the door and take his gun way. I had to kill every man in my way until I was finally free.

And reunited with my family.

Loud yells erupted outside the door then the sound of gunfire came next. I wasn’t sure if I was imagining it or not. Was it a hallucination? Or was havoc actually occuring right outside my door?

The door burst open and two police officers came into the room. Dressed in their SWAT uniforms and with their guns aimed, they found me leaning against the wall in the corner.

Was this real?

Elena came in behind them, wearing a black pencil skirt with heels. When she spotted me on the ground, she gasped. “He’s okay. Oh, thank god.”

Now I knew this wasn’t real. Why would Elena be here?

“Mr. Grey, can you hear me?” The first officer grabbed me by the arm and helped me to my feet. I didn’t realize how weak I was until I tried to stand.

Elena moved under my other arm and helped me outside the cell. “You’re going to be fine, Christian. Are you hurt?”

“No.” My throat was dry from not drinking anything in days.

They escorted me out of the building. Trees lined the property and the mountains could be seen in the distance. The cold and humid air hit me right in the face, and it felt good to feel the slight drizzle. I took it for granted every single day.

An ambulance and medics were waiting.

“Let’s get him to the hospital,” one medic said.

“I’m okay.” I pulled away from Elena and stood on my own even though I almost fell over. “I just need some food and water.”

“Christian, you have to go to the hospital,” Elena said firmly. “Now isn’t the time to be proud.”

“I’m not being proud,” I snapped. “I have to get to my family as quickly as possible. Do you have a phone?”

She handed hers over to me.

It took me a minute to remember Ana’s number, not because it was forgettable information, but because I couldn’t think straight. I listened to the phone ring before her sad voice answered. “Hello?”

“I’m okay. The police are here, and I’m okay.” It was so much effort just to talk. I didn’t have the energy to do it.

“Oh god, Christian.” She cried over the phone, sobbing as she broke down. “I was so scared. It’s so good to hear your voice.”

I couldn’t appreciate her love because I could barely think.

“We’ll be on the next flight home.”

“No.” I didn’t want her going anywhere. “Stay put. I’m coming to get you now.”

“What? Christian, you need to rest.”

“I’ll rest on the plane. Stay put and I’ll see you in a few hours.”

She would normally argue with me but she clearly thought better of it. I was the one who was held captive for nearly two weeks. I called the shots. “Okay.”

“I’ll let you know when the plane is in the air.”

“Okay.” She continued to cry over the line but she tried to keep quiet.

“Everything is fine now, Ana. You can calm down.”

“Christian, I won’t be calm until I see you.”

I wanted to stay on the phone, but I couldn’t. I needed to eat and drink as quickly as possible. “I’ll talk to you soon.”

“Okay. I love you, Christian.” A sob escaped her throat as she spoke.

“I love you too, Ana.” I hung up and handed the phone back to Elena.

She stood there in shock like before. “What do you need?”

“Food.” I didn’t care what it was. I’d eat anything at this point.

“Alright,” she said. “I’m on it.”
